The International Wine and Spirit Competition (IWSC), probably the World’s most prestigious competition in the area of wines, spirits and liqueurs,  acknowledged Lignell & Piispanen’s products last year with awards and trophies. Six of the nine Finnish awards came to Kuopio.

Lignell & Piispanen was most successful in Berry Liqueur category (Kuningatar, Lakka and Lakka-Light) and special Liqueurs (Mesimarja and Mesimarja-Konjakki), which all were awarded by either Silver or Bronze.

In one of the toughest categories, Flavoured Vodkas, Lignell & Piispanen was awarded Silver Trophy and Best In Class.

The International Wine and Spirit Competition was founded in 1969 and is the premier competition of its kind in the world. Its aim is to promote the quality and excellence of the world's best wines, spirits and liqueurs. This standard is achieved through a rigorous two-stage judging process of professional blind tasting and detailed analysis.

The people behind this organization are a group of the most influential men and women in the trade, including Baroness Philippine de Rothschild, Miguel Torres, and Marchese Piero Antinori. Since greater International awareness, the competition has grown considerably. Only two years ago there were over 5000 entries from over 50 countries, but this year more than 6000 products from over 70 countries participated. The competition took place in November in Surrey, England.
